I just read that due to weather (cloud ceiling is too low) at Kennedy Space Center, Discovery's return is rescheduled for tomorrow morning. The crew has a day to sit back and enjoy the view, and speaking of which - here's an awesome one for us.

In other news, I also read that Peter Jennings died. He was never a favorite of mine, in fact, he received a number of scathing emails from me over the years but nonetheless, it was sad to read that lung cancer took his life so quickly.
Other than that, I've not written much here lately. We have been working on the new house. I had a scare on Saturday when I took a little topple over after working outside a few hours. I think it was only because I had my head upside down for so long while working on the landscaped island, and then got up too quickly. It was kinda scary to black out like that. We did complete tree trimming, pruning, weeding and cleaning out the landscaping around the house and the perimeter of the house - what a job. A few neighbors have stopped by to say hello and compliment the improvement (it was in really bad shape). I want to buy a few planters and some flowers to brighten things up a bit since it now looks bare - but it's neat and clean. yay. We purchased all the paint yesterday so that's on schedule for this week and probably part of next. Other than that, I expect to begin arguing with people about the doors, but the more enjoyable activities will be having someone to come out and measure for draperies (and see ideas!) and selecting tile for the dining room.
Today I am contending with a sore throat, stuffy head thing so not sure how much I'll accomplish.

ohhhh I LOVE to paint. I wish I was there to help ya! A few years ago when my parents repainted (the outside) of their house I came over every day to help them out (it was before I had moved back home) I don't know why I enjoy that kinda work. I just do. I find it relaxing. :o) (though not so much when my Mom would be listening to her opera music while we painted. It was much better when I could listen to my 80s music!)

I'm sorry you aren't feeling well today. I think you should take it easy!

I had my TV on all night and woke up to a news report on ABC talking about his history with the network and knew right then that he must have died. I was never a fan, but it's still sad that he died. Scary too since my Mom has been a smoker since she was 15 years old.
oh, it would great to have you join us! I think we are in for time consuming project (and more hands would be welcome lol!) We are only repainting all the trim, crown molding and doors but there is always more to that than meets the eye. As it is right now, the walls are a very light butter color but the trim is golden. The result is that the house looks yellow throughout. We are changing the color to a creamy white in hopes to tone it all down a bit...I like yellow but not so much of it and not throughout the entire house.
The most fun will be in the dining room which we are completely changing from the beige-yellow to a creamy-white on the lower portion of the walls and antique red on the upper part.

I'd go with the 80s music! That would keep us moving! :) Which reminds me to take a radio over there with me this week!
In the waiting time showed the channel several interesting reports about space and the space shuttle missions in the past. One showed the biography of Collins, the commander of the current mission. Was very interesting. Another report examined the previous missions. Was distressing to hear, that many security mechanism would canceled because financial reasons.
I would enjoy seeing that. She must be one amazing woman to have accomplish all she has. My husband commented that he saw it and it was very interesting - she's a remarkable person.

Reading "Apollo 13:Lost Moon" by (astronaut) Jim Lovell opened my eyes to a lot of things - as did reading "Yeager: An Autobiography by Chuck Yeager". The risks the pioneers of space travel took are amazing (and terrifying - to me).
Senate meets next week to discuss issues with the space program so we'll see what the future brings.
I think, was my luck that I life in another time zone, it's late midday here.

It isn't sure yet what will still come now. I know only it was planned that the shuttle program will end in 2010.
